A Mother’s Day Blessing

To those who've given birth this year and are filled with joy, we celebrate with you.

And to those who are pregnant with new life, both expected and surprising, we pray with you for health, and we anticipate good news of great joy.

To those who are in the trenches with little ones every day and who deal with food stains and poopy diapers and homework and taxi service and meal prep and a million other things, we celebrate and appreciate you. We pray for you and ask for strength and well being for you.

To those who have lost a child, to those who deal with infertility, and to those who have lost a mother, those who have experienced loss through miscarriage, failed adoption or estrangement from your children or from your mother… And to those who are walking through the valley of the shadow of death slowly… as dementia or Alzheimers slowly robs your loved one of their memory, their personality…

You might be filled with sadness, pain and tears. We mourn with you. We’re so sorry for your hurt and your loss. And we’re sorry for saying foolish things that don't help. We’re sorry for making this harder than it already is.

To those who are foster moms, mentor moms and spiritual moms. We celebrate you. We’re so grateful for you. We need more people like you.

To those who have warm relationships with your children and with your mothers, we smile and thank God with you.

To those of you who have disappointment, heartache, or distance with your children or with your mothers, we sit in the sadness and unknowing with you, and we pray with you.

To those who have experienced rejection or abuse at the hands of your own mother. We acknowledge your experience and the trauma that comes with it.

To those who've been through driving tests, pregnancy tests, drug tests, medical tests, and the overall test of motherhood, we’re better because you are in our midst.

Mother's Day is a beautiful day to celebrate mothe

Mother's Day is a beautiful day to celebrate mothers and women who's been significant in our lives. It can also be a difficult day for those of us who have lost children or mothers, those whose children or mothers are far away, those who don't have children, those whose children or mothers are estranged... or any number of other situations.
So we at The Quest want to extend the invitation to anyone who wants to gather after worship this Sunday and enjoy a "Mother's Day Lunch (For Us Too!)." Co-pastor @mattnightingale will be heading up the gathering. We'll find a place that can accommodate us and enjoy lunch together.
